Lying along poetic O Lau River, there is a small peaceful village with hundred years existing. The village is famous for making pottery.

Phuoc Tich ancient village is located in Phuoc Phu Hamlet, Phong Hoa commune, Huong Dien district, Thua Thien – Hue Province. It is one of the remaining ancient villages of the country.

The village is now preserving a lot of precious tangible heritages, including 27 ancient houses and 10 ancestor worship houses.

Moss-covering walls and huge old trees are the most featuring pictures of Phuoc Tich village

Moreover, for over the hundred years, Phuoc Tich has been reputed for making pottery. All the products are manual and burned in fire wood. They are really sophisticated, durable and good-looking.

The pottery products of Phuoc Tich village used to be used by the kings and royal family. Pottery making was the main and somehow the only way to raise the whole village and brought its prime in the past. Now you can come to Le Trong Dien’s house to see amazing pottery products made by Phuoc Tich residents in the last centuries.

The ancient houses are called “ruong” house which contain three compartments and two lean-tos with spacious surroundings. Especially, the house is mostly built by wooden piles which can be easy to disassemble and resemble.

An outstanding feature of Phuoc Tich’s ancient house is its tree-fences used to define this house to the other. This fence is just about half of one meter, making the space really natural and airy.

Another feature of the house’s architecture is that each of them has a small lake in front of the yard. The reason is to prevent the house in case of fire because of the pottery kiln.

Besides ancient houses, Phuoc Tich preserves a lot of ancient ancestor worship houses with incredible architecture and historical background.
